Mike Scott Promoted to Commercial Director at Onside Accounting
At Onside, we believe in developing our team, rewarding impact and holding on to brilliant people - and therefore, it gives us great pleasure to announce that Mike Scott has been promoted to Commercial Director at Onside Accounting.
In his new role, Mike will be responsible for leading Onside’s commercial strategy, including business development, market positioning and acting as the firm's first point of contact for all new business enquiries and client referrals.

Mike’s Expertise in Insurance and High-Growth Businesses
Big Four and International Experience
Mike is a highly experienced Chartered Accountant. Having qualified with PwC in Edinburgh in 2012, Mike has over 16 years of experience in accounting and finance, including expertise across both UK and international markets. Prior to joining Onside in October 2024, Mike spent much of the preceding decade in the Cayman Islands, where he established a strong reputation in the insurance and reinsurance sectors.
Insurtech and Vertical SaaS Focus
In his role at Aon Cayman, Mike led client service teams in managing a diverse portfolio of captive (re)insurers, with his clients including Insurtech MGAs and vertical SaaS companies based in the US. These businesses ranged in size from Series A startups to publicly traded firms, giving him deep expertise in working with scale-ups and building an excellent working understanding of US GAAP. He understands the complexities of businesses operating on a multinational basis and is committed to ensuring that their compliance needs are met.

will remain closely involved with our clients, offering practical, strategic support to those in the Insurtech space, guiding businesses through complex technical accounting challenges, and working alongside our tax team to help clients navigate complex areas like transfer pricing.
